Exploring the Motivations of Daily-use Ceramic Product Design from the Perspective of Aristotle's"Theory of Four Causes"
Daily-use ceramic design belongs to an important category of product design, reflecting many factors of product design.Among them,"material, structure, function, form, and craftsmanship"are five important design attributes, which are also the main factors that constitute the innovation of ceramic products. This is essentially related to Aristotle's theory of"four causes",from which we can glimpse the possibility of innovation in ceramic product design and explore the motivations of ceramic product design. This paper considers the research on the motivations of ceramic product design from four dimensions:material cause:material evolution and product innovation, formal cause:scientific structure and freedom of form, efficient cause:process flow and craftsmanship expression, and final cause:functional stability and diverse needs.Based on this,it reflects on the diverse design expressions of contemporary daily-use ceramic products.
