Analysis of the Principle and Practice of Library Alliances Reading Promotion Activities in the Background of Urban Agglomeration Integration
As China's urban agglomeration pattern evolves and nationwide reading culture deepens,it has become imperative to devise a cooperation mechanism for regional public libraries to carry out reading promotion activities. This paper focuses on the reading promotion activities of the inter-provincial library alliances within urban agglomerations as its initial point of reference, aiming to decipher the formation mechanism and potential future of a public cultural circle within an hour's commute.Initially, the paper delves into the principles underpinning the reading promotion practices of urban agglomeration library alliances. The significance of reading promotion activities in urban agglomerations extends to the holistic development of urban agglomerations, the growth of libraries, and the advancement of reading for all.Subsequently,an exhaustive survey was conducted on inter-provincial library alliances and their reading promotion activities within urban agglomerations.Through this survey,a total of 24 alliances were identified, conducting a combined total of 122 reading promotion activities.Based on survey results, the paper encapsulated the management modes, unique characteristics, and existing problems of these reading promotion activities. The primary research findings can be summarized as follows:1)The organizational and management models for reading activities in urban agglomerations are categorized into four distinct types:Comprehensive library alliances for promoting reading,library-led reading alliances, library alliances connected through specific culture ties, and professional alliances related to reading activities.2)Reading activities in urban agglomerations offer unique advantages over those in traditional urban libraries. These advantages encompass:A heightened emphasis on regional identity,a focus on distinctive activities,an emphasis on multi-party collaboration, and a stress on both stereoscopic and overlay modes.3)Inter-provincial library alliances have yet to fully realize their potential in engaging reading activities of urban agglomerations. This is primarily due to a lack of focus on the diversity and mobility of the reading public in these urban agglomerations.Consequently, the enhancement of library alliance reading promotion in urban agglomeration should prioritize strengthening the bond between the reading public and urban conglomerations. This can be achieved by focusing on five key aspects:1)innovative inter-provincial library alliance reading promotion mechanism;2)adhering to a parallel concept that values collaboration, circulation, and a people-oriented approach;3)offering differentiated reading services for population in different cities;4)establishing a reading and sharing platform for urban agglomeration library alliances;5)building a reading promotion service system covering urban and rural areas.2 figs.3 tabs.38 refs.
