Artificial Intelligence Literacy in the Digital Intelligence Era:Connotation,Framework, and Implementation Pathways
In an era characterized by rapid digital and intelligent advancements, the advent of artificial intelligence(AI)literacy brings forth new imperatives for literacy education within the university libraries. This paper meticulously examines three pivotal areas:1)Origin,essence,and framework of AI literacy.Initially, the paper scrutinizes the evolution of the literacy in the context of AI's burgeoning influence. It traces the developmental trajectory of AI literacy, probing its roots and structural framework. The investigation reveals that AI literacy transcends the conventional scope of understanding and applying technology.Instead,it is identified as an all-encompassing,dynamically evolving amalgam of skills and knowledge. This nuanced understanding shifts the focus towards the critical importance of AI literacy for the broader populace. To this end,the KSAVE model is introduced as a fundamental framework for AI literacy, encompassing key dimensions such as knowledge, skills, attitudes, ethics, and values. This framework aims to comprehensively encapsulate the multi-dimensional nature of AI literacy.2)University libraries'involvement in AI literacy education. The paper explores the justification and necessity of university libraries participating in AI literacy education. It posits that this engagement is a natural progression of their existing roles in information and digital literacy, aligning seamlessly with their mission as interdisciplinary resource hubs.University libraries are uniquely positioned to capitalize on their strengths in professional librarianship, access to diverse academic resources, spatial capabilities, and established trust. These attributes enable them to provide vital AI-related information resources and expert guidance, thereby playing a crucial role in promoting the practical application of AI literacy among students and faculty.3)Implementation strategies for AI literacy education in university libraries.Building on the distinction between information literacy, digital literacy, and AI literacy, the paper proposes a strategic roadmap for the effective implementation of AI literacy education within university libraries. It underscores the significance of constructing interdisciplinary knowledge systems, enhancing practical application capabilities, and fostering moral and ethical awareness. This tripartite approach is deemed essential for nurturing future talents who are not only technically adept in AI but also demonstrate strong social responsibility and critical thinking. The paper advocates for a comprehensive educational strategy that intertwines theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and ethical considerations. This approach is pivotal in laying a robust foundation for the development of AI-literate individuals, equipped to navigate and contribute responsibly in an AI-centric world.1 tab.55 refs.
