The Definition,Connotation and Implementation Framework of Trusted Digital Scholarship
Given the trust crisis in academic production and exchange within the open science environment, this paper proposes that there is an urgent need to develop"digital scholarship"into"trusted digital scholarship".At present, the concept of trusted digital scholarship has not been explicitly defined, but with the rise of blockchain technology, theoretical and practical researches related to this concept continue to emerge. Therefore, the definition, connotation and implementation framework of trusted digital scholarship should be systematically studied and formally proposed.Trusted digital scholarship is an idea that utilizes digital technology to serve the entire process of academic research in an open academic exchange network that meets trust requirements of digital scholarship infrastructure, digital scholarship participant and digital scholarship circulation data. There are three elements of the trust connotation of trusted digital scholarship. The first element is the trusted digital scholarship infrastructure, which should be maintained by an authoritative academic consortium, based on distributed trust, and capable of protecting data privacy. The second element is the trusted digital scholarship participant, which requires authentic and valid identity information, legitimate identity users, and good credibility. The third element is the trusted digital scholarship circulation data, which requires keeping clear ownership and usage rights, authenticity, and integrity. The implementation framework of trusted digital scholarship consists of three layers:the key issue layer, the supporting technology layer, and the practice scenario layer.Trusted digital scholarship builds a trusted ecosystem and creates an open network among untrusted digital scholarship participants, encouraging researchers to conduct open and transparent research and to fully promote the circulation and value release of academic data resources.2 figs.3 tabs.35 refs.
