Research Progress on Application of Biomass-Based Adsorbents in Decolorization of Sugar Juice
In recent years, biomass materials have attracted widespread attention in the application of decolorization of sugar juice.Biomass has the characteristics of high cost effectiveness, environmental friendliness and high removal efficiency, making it a promising adsorbent. The high-molecular-weight invert sugar alkaline degradation pigments(HISADPs),melanoids(ME)and phenolic substances in sugar juice seriously affect the quality of sugar. In this paper, the latest research progress of modified biomass adsorbents(including cellulose, chitosan and starch)in the decolorization of sugar juice is reviewed, and how to expand the application of biomass-based adsorbents in sugar factories in the future is proposed.
