Potential Mechanisms by Which Exercise Improves Cognitive Impairment Caused by Heart Failure
Heart failure has become a significant public health problem worldwide.and cogni-tive impairment,as a critical complication,severely affects the physical and mental health as well as the quality of life of patients with heart failure.In recent years,researches at home and abroad have explored the mechanism of cognitive impairment caused by heart failure and the potential mechanism of exercise in improving cognitive impairment caused by heart failure.In-sufficient cerebral perfusion and its caused neuroinflammation,mitochondrial dysfunction,reduc-tion of brain-derived neurotrophic factor,as well as changes in cardiac endocrine function and dis-orders of gut microbiome may be the biological mechanisms of heart failure-induced cognitive im-pairment.Exercise may improve cognitive impairment caused by heart failure through multiple mechanisms,including increasing brain perfusion,improving peripheral inflammation and neuro-inflammation,improving mitochondrial function in the brain,increasing the level of brain-derived neurotrophic factor,and improving gut microbiome dysbiosis.
