The Path Exploration of Promoting County Economic Development through the Construction of Sports Leisure Towns——An fsQCA Analysis Based on 75 Cases in the Yangtze River Delta
Drawing on existing researches and policy texts,a basic theoretical framework for the promotion of county economic development through the construction of sports leisure towns was established, and 75 sports leisure towns in the Yangtze River Delta region were taken as samples. The fsQCA analysis was used to explore the configurational effects of seven anteced-ent conditions, including natural resources, population size, industrial support, infrastructure, government publicity, scientific and technological innovation, and folk culture on county eco-nomic development. The research reveals the following findings:1)The configurational paths through which sports leisure towns contribute to county economic development include natural resource endowment type, folk culture promotion type and sports industry upgrading type;2)population size plays an important role in all paths, folk culture appears as an auxiliary condi-tion in paths emphasizing folk culture promotion and sports industry upgrading, while industrial support and infrastructure only play a role in the path of sports industry upgrading;3)govern-ment publicity and scientific and technological innovation have not yet played their due roles in the generation of relevant paths.Suggestions:The construction of sports leisure towns should highlight their own unique characteristics and establish a development strategy with a clear theme and precise positioning;the main body of construction should identify and address short-comings,and fully harnessing the multiplier effects of scientific and technological innovation and government publicity;giving favorable allocation of cultivation quotas to areas with rela-tively low levels of economic development and accelerating the role of sports leisure towns as engines for county economic development.
