To Marguerite is a poem by Matthew Arnold. In one of his famous lines “we mortal mil ions live alone”, he bluntly states perhaps his largest complaint about dealing with community in the modern Victorian word. This poem wasn’t as famous as Shakespeare’s sonnet, but it was a very important poem in history of English modern poetry. This poem might not as popular as his another poem, Dover Beach, but it reflected Matthew’s life and identity. A lot of people had translated it in their own language. The article mainly appreciate the poem in rhyme, background of the poet, and the feelings that the poet tried to express, and commend some versions of translation to see if the translation real y could express the artistic conception of the poem.
