A large number of new Chinese neologisms have sprung up since China’s reform and opening- up drive. It is of vital importance to translate these neologisms into English faithful y and idiomatical y so as to help the international community gain timely and objective understanding of the epoch- making development in China. By using many examples which focus on the effect of translation and cultural differences, the paper analyzes the resources of neologisms, discussing the translation method of the word of foreign origin and the native neologisms separately, meanwhile it points out the problems in the translations of neologisms at present.
