浅析ESP（专门用途英语）教学理论对高职英语教学的作用和意义

摘要
不同于高校的传统基础英语教学，高职英语教学强调的是以专业为基础适用为主，够用为目的。所以根据所学专业，高职英语教学更注重培养学生对专门用途英语的应用能力。ESP（专门用途英语）这一教学理念认为教学的目的要明确，学习者学习英语是为了将其作为学习工具来学习更加专业的知识。这与高职英语教学的培养目标相符。本文主要探讨 ESP 教学理论在高职院校英语教学中的应用和意义。在该理论指导下，教师该如何设计恰当的教学方法把英语语言知识和应用技能教授给学生，使学生在有限的学习时间里获得能力的提升。
Abstract
Different from Basic English teaching in universities, the English teaching in vocational institute emphasize professional English skil s, with the view of applicable and suf icient teaching purpose. According to their majors, vocational English teaching cultivates students’ ability to use English in profession. ESP teaching regards that the purpose of students leaning English is to advance further study of their majors, which conforms to the aim of vocational English teaching. Based on ESP teaching, this thesis discusses the functions of ESP in vocational English teaching, and the way to improve students’ comprehensive ability to use English in a limited period.
