A Study of the Realization of Ideology in the Translation of Ashima:An Engagement Approach
Appraisal Theory, brought forward by Martin in early 1990s , deals with interpersonal meaning . This theory is helpful to explore the ideological manipulation of a discourse by changing appraisal meaning. This article applies the sub- system of Appraisal Theory -Engagement to the research of the translation of Ashima to explore how the ideological manipulation was realized. And this paper finds making implicit Engagement explicit,increasing and omitting Engagement can help realize the ideological manipulation. The subsystem of Appraisal Theory -Engagement can explain the ideological manipulation.
