Systematically Harnessing the Role of Cultural Heritage in the Chinese Path to Modernization
This paper discusses the significance of cultural heritage in the Chinese path to modernization,and on this basis,pro-vides analyses and suggestions for the challenges facing cultural heritage conservation and utilization in China nowadays.First,the theoretical framework for cultural heritage conservation and utilization with Chinese characteristics should be deepened.It includes deepening the knowledge of outstanding achievements of Chinese civilization,establishing clear values in the evaluation process,reinforcing the systematic interpretation of cultural heritage genes,and adopting an indigenous approach to comprehend China's cul-tural heritage.Second,we should attach greater importance to the role of cultural heritage in enhancing Chinese characteristics during modernization.It entails persistently highlighting the importance of China's cultural autonomy,concurrently addressing traditional modernization and modern traditionalization,making efforts to revive and sustain the Chinese characteristics in daily social life,em-phasizing the expression of Chinese characteristics in human settlement construction,and promoting cultural heritage conservation to shift from material to cultural systems.Third,the systematicity of conservation and utilization practices of cultural heritage should be strengthened.It can be achieved by expanding the principle of cultural heritage conservation from integrity to systematicity,enhanc-ing the overall planning and integration of professions and the systematic training of talents,and reinforcing systematic efforts in con-servation and utilization.
