Application Strategy of Biophilia Design in Silo Renewal
In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to the protection and reuse of old industrial relics in China.Silos,as old industrial structures, are special industrial relics and deserve more attention due to their historical and cultural value,sci-entific and technological value, and aesthetic landscape value. This paper, based on research of silos in Beijing,Shanghai,Shenzhen and other places, concludes that silo is a type of industrial heritage with great regenerative potential and outstanding cultural characteristics. It has the advantages of stable combination, unique space and strong symbol, but there are also problems such as single form, low quality and insufficient vitality in the process of space reuse. It is necessary to further improve the humanistic attributes and ecological quality of space while realizing the overall functional transformation. On the basis of inheriting industrial culture,it further transmits the development concept of harmonious coexistence and ecological green. The concept of"biophilia design"studied in this paper refers to gaining experience from natural creatures and creating an artificial environment that can support and revive human nature of biophilia. It can be applied to cities, landscapes, and buildings. At present, this concept mainly focuses on the experimental analysis and summary of basic principles in China and other countries, and there is little research on the renovation and utilization design of buildings. In this paper, based on the concept-based method, the biophilia design strategies in related research and practical cases are summarized, and the biophilia design system of silos is formed, including direct natural element introduction, indirect natural form simulation and natural mode construction in place. The specific strategy of direct natural elements includes the introduction of natural light and ventilation, the layout of indoor ecological landscape, and the addition of facade greening facilities, which will effectively solve the problem of the lack of natural elements in the silo. The indirect natural form simulation is mainly carried out from aspects of structure design, material application and space remodeling. The silo also has the space conditions of simulating nature.Through simulating natural space, people can feel comfortable physically and psychologically. The construction of natural mode of place includes the interaction between internal and external environment, cultural and ecological symbiosis and comprehensive performance, which expands the design space and draws lessons from natural principles at the strategic level to ensure better realization of benefits. Finally, this paper takes the silo reuse project of Shenzhen Dacheng Flour Mill as an example to verify the feasibility of bio-philia design in silo reuse.Dacheng Flour Mill has advantages of location and surrounding natural conditions, but there are also some problems such as long abandoned time, closed internal space, lack of industrial culture and low site utilization. In the design scheme, natural images are used to organize the site streamline and form climate microcirculation. We deconstruct the space, and introduce art exhibition, office, catering and other functions to achieve functional culture symbiosis.By means of structure extension and space separation, the natural form of junction structure can be simulated and displayed. The introduction of detailed natural elements im-proves the ecological quality and cultural characteristics of the industrial silo space. The industrial remains of silos can attract people and serve the surrounding area with a biophilia design feature, and become a dynamic landmark in the park and even the urban area.
