Mr.Hu Jigao is a pioneer of cultural relics conservation technology in China and a renowned expert and researcher at China Academy of Cultural Heritage.He possesses a solid theoretical foundation,systematic specialized knowledge,and exten-sive practical experience.He has made remarkable achievements in the conservation and restoration of murals,colored sculptures,and bamboo and wooden lacquer artifacts.His notable projects include the repair and reinforcement of Qijia wall paintings at Mogao Grottoes of Dunhuang,dehydrating conservation of lacquerware unearthed from the Han Tombs at Mawangdui,preservation of wall paintings at the Goguryeo Tomb No.1 in Changchuan Village,Ji'an City,Jilin Province,colored sculpture of Song Dynasty Arhats of Lingyan Temple in Changqing,Shandong Province,and dehydrating conservation of Sun Wu-era bamboo slips from the Zoumalou in Changsha.Each of these serves as an example in the field of cultural relics conservation.This paper brings together experts and schol-ars from local cultural relics protection institutions,research institutes,and the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage to pay tribute to Mr.Hu Jigao's academic contributions to cultural relics conservation technology,his spirit of exploration and pursuit of excellence,and his dedication to nurturing talents in this field.
