Subject Participation Expectations in the Path of"Reverse Urbanization"in Traditional Villages:Taking Wulin Village in Jinjiang as an Example
This study is to explore the subject expectations in the process of"reverse urbanization"in traditional villages,us-ing Wulin Village in Jinjiang as a case study.Currently,traditional villages face the problem of homogenization in their development path of"reverse urbanization,"with a lack of awareness among villagers about the protection and development of their communi-ties identified as one of the causes.In order to gain a deeper understanding of rural social systems,this study adopts a sociological perspective and uses a self-intervention method to delve into the multiple origins of internal tensions and contradictions within rural communities.Through observations and analyses of Wulin Village's geographical environment,population,historical development and ar-chitectural features,the study reveals the historical evolution and current state of the village.Additionally,this study analyzes major causes behind the transformation of Wulin Village,including the influence of policies and legal systems,economic development,so-cial and cultural factors,as well as the interaction between traditional villages and the process of urbanization.Furthermore,the study focuses on the analysis of the roles of various actors during the transformation of Wulin Village.By ex-amining the roles and opinions of villagers,village committees,and street offices,this study highlights differences in expectations among these actors in the context of"reverse urbanization."The research findings emphasize that the protection and development of traditional villages require considerations beyond economic and material aspects,emphasizing the participation by villagers and the self-organizing capacity of rural communities.In conclusion,this study summarizes the expectations and challenges faced by the main actors during the transformation of Wulin Village,emphasizing the need for dynamic balance in rural development.The sustainable development and protection of rural areas need to comprehensively consider multiple factors,such as the expectations of all actors,the utilization of local resources,humanistic care and the elements of traditional villages.The self-organization development model of traditional villages is the result of the inter-action between top-down political leadership and bottom-up self-governance for villagers.The research conclusions provide a devel-opment path with the subject expectations for the industrial upgrading and cultural protection of other traditional villages.
