Analysis on the Characteristics of Patients Treated by 120 Ambulances in Emergency Department of a 3A Hospital in Guangzhou
Objective To investigate the characteristics of patients sent by emergency department via 120 ambulances,and to provide a foundation for clarifying emergency department treatment priorities,rationally allocating emergency medical resources,and optimising emergency procedures.Methods Patients'gender,age,disease spectrum,triage level,and peak attendance were analysed for patients who arrived at the emergency department of The Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University during January to December 2022 via Guangzhou 120 ambulance.Results There were 4 370 patients in total,with 2 287 males(52.3%)and 2 083 females(47.7%).The patients'ages ranged from 0.1 to 106.0 years old,with the majority(62.5%)being over 66.Nervous system diseases(1 529 cases,accounting for 35.0%),trauma(797 cases,accounting for 18.2%),and respiratory system diseases(555 cases,accounting for 12.7%)were the top three diseases.300 patients(6.9%)were graded as Ⅰ,1 248 patients(28.6%)as Ⅱ,2 806 patients(64.2%)as Ⅲ,and 16 patients(0.4%)as Ⅳ.The peak period for consultation was from 9:00 to 12:00,with 779 cases accounting for 17.8%of all cases.Conclusion Emergency medical personnel should rationally allocate emergency medical resources based on the characteristics of patients treated by 120 doctors,further optimise the consultation process,improve emergency treatment capability,and ensure patient safety.
