The Effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine Combined With Acupuncture on Residual Symptoms of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
Objective To analyze the effect of self-proposed herbal formula combined with acupuncture on the residual symptoms of elderly patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo after repositioning. Methods A total of 160 cases of elderly patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo in the department of Rehabilitation Medicine,Longyan Boai Hospital from June 2021 to June 2023 were selected and randomly divided into the observation group(n = 80)and the control group(n = 80).In the control group, acupuncture was practiced to intervene, while the observation group was treated with a combination of self-prepared traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions on its basis. The two groups were compared in terms of treatment efficiency, negative emotion, vertigo, and vertigo symptom score. Results The effective rate of treatment in the observation group(95%)was higher than that in the control group(85%)(P<0.05).The Hamilton depression scale(HAMD)of the observation group was(32.72±4.48)points,and the Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)was(36.41±4.28)points,which were lower than the control group's(36.41±4.28)points and(41.57±4.34)points(P<0.05).The DHI score of the observation group(4.85±2.06)points,(7.12±2.07)points,and(6.12±1.42)points,and were lower than those of the control group(7.69±1.29)points,(10.69±3.01)points,and(9.86±2.08)points(P<0.05).The observation group's dizziness symptom score was(9.56±0.51)points,which was lower than the control group's(12.41±0.51)points(P<0.05).Conclusion The use of self-proposed traditional Chinese medicine prescription combined with acupuncture for the treatment of residual symptoms after reset in elderly patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo can improve the clinical symptoms of the patients, provide good prognostic conditions for the patients, and effectively improve the balance function of the patients.
