Investigation on the Participation of Healthcare Workers in Health Academic Societies
Objective To understand the participation of health institution workers in academic societies in Zhejiang Province in the past five years,explore the constructive significance of academic society activities for health institution workers and disciplines,and provide scientific suggestions for promoting the healthy development of health institution workers and academic societies.Methods Adopt questionnaire survey to collect the participation of healthcare workers in academic societies from January 2018 to December 2022 in a province-level health institution in Zhejiang province.Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the demographic characteristics of healthcare workers,and Chi-square test were used to analyze the the differences in participation and satisfaction distribution characteristics among different populations participating in academic societies.Results A total of 264 cases were included in the study,with a distribution of 25.00%for junior and intermediate titles,39.39%for deputy senior titles,and 35.61%for senior titles.Age was concentrated in the range of>40-50 years old(41.67%),work experience was concentrated in the range of>9-19 years old(39.39%),professional classification mainly included physician series(64.39%),and subject classification mainly included health management(15.15%),tuberculosis(11.36%)and occupational radiation health(11.36%).There were statistically significant differences among age,work experience,professional distribution,and subject classification among different titles of healthcare workers,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Healthcare workers participated in academic societies from 1 to 10,with an average of 3 social organizations per person.82.98%of workers with principal senior titles served as members or above in academic societies.56.82%of healthcare workers frequently participated in academic societies.There were statistical differences in the distribution of social organization numbers,social organization positions,and participation frequency among different titles of workers,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).43.94%of healthcare workers expressed satisfaction with the frequency of social organization activities,47.73%believed that social organization activities improved the level of discipline construction,and 43.94%thought that social organization activities improved their own academic ability.Conclusion Health academic societies play a crucial role in talent cultivation,scientific research,and discipline construction.However,there are still some issues that need to be improved,such as retaining talents,assuming government functions,and operational mechanisms.Professionals with high-level titles have distinct advantages in terms of positions within health academic societies,while those with junior and intermediate titles tend to have low participation rates.Health academic societies should fully leverage the leading and exemplary roles of experts,strengthen their strategic management awareness,increase investment,enhance their staffing capabilities,and improve relevant policies and regulations to better undertake government functions.At the same time,it is encouraged to actively participate in health academic societies by junior and intermediate-level professionals to form a sustainable talent echelon.
