Research Progress on Status of Nurse Patient Safety Competence and Educational Needs at Home and Abroad
Patient safety(PS)is the core of health care quality and is a focus of the global health care field.Patient safety incidents cause varying degrees of harm to patients,bring heavy medical burden to the society,and affect the doctor-patient relationship.The global health care community actively seeks ways to address patient safety issues and promote continuous quality improvement.Nurses play an important role in quality and safety.The competence of nurses in patient safety is one of the main contents in preventing medical injury and improving patient outcome.Patient safety has been highly valued in clinical nursing practice and nursing education abroad.The measuring tools for nurse patient safety competency are still not perfect and need to be further developed and revised.A systematic patient safety education strategy has not yet been formed in each stage of nursing professional education in our country.Health management departments and institutions should cooperate closely with educational institutions to analyze the competence and continuing education needs of nurses for patient safety,and incorporate patient safety issues into the education plans of nursing majors in school education and continuing education,so as to coordinate medical education and ensure patient safety.
