The Application Effect of PDCA Cycle Management in Increasing the Number of Reported Adverse Events of Average Bed Medical Quality and Safety
Objective According to the requirements of hierarchical hospital evaluation and performance evaluation of tertiary public hospitals,the application effect of Plan-Do-Check-Action(PDCA)cycle management in improving the number of reported adverse events of average bed medical quality and safety was studied.Methods The number of adverse medical quality and safety events reported per bed in Guangdong Agricultural Reclamation Center Hospital from January to December 2021 was selected to analyze the current situation,and improvement measures were developed for continuous monitoring.Then select the medical quality and safety adverse event reports from January to December 2022,and verify the effect of PDCA cycle method by comparing before and after improvement.Results The number of reported adverse medical quality and safety events from January to December 2022 was 887,and the quarterly average number of reported adverse medical quality and safety events was 15.5 in the first quarter,21.0 in the second quarter,19.4 in the third quarter,and 32.8 in the fourth quarter.The number of reported adverse medical quality and safety events per bed from 2021 to 2022 shows an upward trend.The number of reported adverse events in hospitals from January to December 2022 was higher than that from January to December 2021,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The management concept of PDCA cycle can effectively increase the number of reported adverse events of average bed medical quality and safety,strengthen medical safety,and improve service quality.
