Comparison of Magnetic Particle Chemiluminescence Method and Colloidal Chromatography Method in the Diagnosis Efficacy of HIV Antibodies
Objective To compare the detection rate and diagnostic efficacy of magnetic particle chemiluminescence method and colloidal chromatography method for human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)antibodies. Methods A total of 140 patients who were tested for HIV antibodies in the department of blood transfusion,Shaowu Municiple Hospital from January to December 2022 were selected. All patients were tested for HIV content using magnetic particle chemiluminescence, colloidal chromatography, and western blotting test(WB).WB results were used as the"gold standard".The detection rate and diagnostic efficacy of magnetic particle chemiluminescence and colloidal chromatography for HIV antibodies were compared. Results The results showed that among 140 patients who tested for HIV antibodies,56 patients tested positive and 84 patients tested negative as confirmed by WB results. The detection rate of HIV antibodies by magnetic particle chemiluminescence assay was 94.64%(53/56).The detection rate of HIV antibodies by colloidal chromatography was 78.57%(44/56),and the detection rate of HIV antibodies by magnetic particle chemiluminescence was higher than that by colloidal chromatography, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The magnetic particle chemiluminescence method showed excellent consistency between the detection results of HIV antibodies and the WB confirmation results(Kappa=0.925),while the colloidal chromatography method showed ideal consistency between the detection results of HIV antibodies and the WB confirmation results(Kappa=0.742).Using WB confirmation results as the"gold standard",the sensitivity of magnetic particle chemiluminescence method for detecting HIV antibodies was 94.64%(53/56),the accuracy was 96.43%(135/140),and the negative predictive value was 96.47%(82/85),which was higher than colloidal chromatography method for detecting HIV antibodies of 78.57%(44/56),87.86%(123/140),86.81%(79/91),the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The detection rate of HIV antibodies using magnetic particle chemiluminescence method is higher than that using colloid chromatography method. The sensitivity, accuracy, and negative predictive value of HIV antibody diagnosis are higher than those using colloid chromatography method, and the overall diagnostic efficacy is better than that using colloid chromatography method.
