A Qualitative Study on the Psychological Experience of Patients With Liver Cirrhosis Complicated by First Upper Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage
Objective To investigate the real psychological experience of patients with cirrhosis complicated with first upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage and to explore their coping style.Methods A qualitative study design was used to conduct semi-structured in-depth interviews with 11 representative samples from the department of gastroenterology of grade A tertiary hospital in Linfen,Shanxi Province from March to June 2022.The data were transcribed verbatim,and subject analysis was carried out using Colaizzi's phenomenological method.Results Identified 5 themes in two categories.Category 1,negative valence experience,namely anxiety and panic,self-blame and guilt,a sense of self-burden.Category 2,positive valence experience,that is,actively seeking disease knowledge,reflect and grow.Conclusion Patients with cirrhosis complicated with first upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage have diverse psychological experience,and nursing staff should guide patients to strengthen positive valence experience and improve negative valence experience,so as to provide scientific basis for the formulation and provision of high-quality nursing services.
