Effect of Port Maintenance Time on Catheter Function and Complications After Chemotherapy
Objective To investigate the effect of prolonging the maintenance time of infusion port after chemotherapy on the function of the catheter and the occurrence of complications. Methods A total of 120 patients at the infusion port maintained by the outpatient department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University from February 2022 to February 2023 were selected as the study objects and divided into group A(1 month),group B(2 months)and group C(3 months)according to random drawing method, with 40 cases in each group. After the completion of chemotherapy, the patients should return to the hospital every 1 month,2 months and 3 months to maintain the infusion port, and the function of the catheter and the occurrence of complications were evaluated after the maintenance time reached half a year. Results The patency rate of catheters at infusion port of patients in group A was 97.50%(39/40),that of patients in group B was 95.00%(38/40),and that of patients in group C was 97.50%(39/40).There was no statistical significance in the function of catheters at infusion port of cancer patients among the three groups(χ2=0.683,P>0.05).The rate of catheter thrombosis at infusion port in group A was 25.00%(10/40),the rate of catheter thrombosis at infusion port in group B was 20.00%(8/40),and the rate of catheter thrombosis at infusion port in group C was 25.00%(10/40).There was no statistical significance in the formation of catheter thrombosis at infusion port in tumor patients between the three groups(P>0.05).There were no complications such as catheter-related infection and pouch infection in three groups. Conclusion On the basis of standardized catheter maintenance, maintaining infusion port at an interval of 3 months after the end of chemotherapy is the best choice for tumor patients, and it is worthy of further promotion.
