The Impact of"Problem Management Plus"Group Narrative on Secondary Traumatic Stress in Emergency Department Nurses
Objective To explore the impact of"problem management plus(PM+)"and group narrative on secondary traumatic stress in emergency department nurses. Methods From July to October 2023,convenience sampling was used to select emergency department nurses who voluntarily registered at Zhongshan Hospital Xiamen University as the research subjects.A total of 3 dropouts were excluded, and ultimately 63 nurses participated in the study.Different intervention strategies were implemented according to different intervention times. The control group(July to August 2023,n=31)received routine training, while the intervention group(September to October 2023,n=32)implemented"PM+"group narrative.Evaluate the intervention effect using the secondary trauma stress scale. Results After the intervention, the total score of secondary traumatic stress for the intervention group nurses(43.60±5.78)points was lower than that of the control group(48.18±5.02)points,and the difference was statistically significant(t=3.353,P=0.001).Moreover,the scores of all dimensions of secondary traumatic stress in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion"PM+"group narrative can reduce secondary traumatic stress among emergency department nurses.
