Application of PDCA Cycle for Improving Hand Hygiene Accuracy Among Health Care Workers in NICU
Objective To explore the application effect of continuous quality improvement in the hand h ygiene management of neonatal intensive care unit(NICU)medical staff,in order to improve the accuracy of hand hygiene. Methods From December 2022 to November 2023,the PDCA cycle management method was applied to continuously improve the accuracy of hand hygiene among 39 medical staff.Through four stages of planning, implementing countermeasures, inspecting and handling, weak links in management were identified in a timely manner, and continuous improvement was summarized.Perform statistical analysis on the accuracy of hand hygiene before and after implementing quality improvement measures. Results After the implementation of the PDCA cycle, the accuracy rate of hand hygiene among medical staff increased from 49.79%to 95.15%.There was a statistically significant difference in the accuracy rate of hand hygiene before and after intervention(P<0.001),and the accuracy rate was significantly improved at different indication levels compared to before implementation. Conclusion The application of PDCA cycle for continuous quality improvement can effectively improve the accuracy of hand hygiene among medical personnel.
