Effect of Acupuncture Treatment on Facial Nerve Function and Quality of Life in Patients With Peripheral Facial Paralysis
Objective To investigate the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on facial nerve function and quality of life in patients with peripheral facial palsy. Methods A total of 80 patients with peripheral facial palsy treated in Shaowu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from September 2021 to September 2023 were selected. The group was divided by random number table method. The control group(n=40)was treated with conventional western medicine and rehabilitation training, and the study group(n=40)was treated with acupuncture and moxibustion. The total effective rate, facial nerve function score before and after treatment, quality of life score improvement and the incidence of adverse reactions during treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the study group was 97.50%,higher than 80.00%of the control group(P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no significant difference in quality of life and facial nerve function scores between 2 groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the facial nerve function scores of the 2 groups were lower than before treatment, and the quality of life scores were higher than before treatment(P<0.05),and the facial nerve function scores and quality of life scores of the study group were better than those of the control group(P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the study group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Patients with peripheral facial paralysis using conventional western medicine, rehabilitation training during the treatment of acupuncture treatment is more conducive to improving the disease, improve the overall curative effect of treatment, and reduce the occurrence of adverse reactions.
