Investigation and Research of Frailty Status and Influencing Factors in Elderly Patients With Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
Objective To explore the status quo of debilitation in hospitalized elderly patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH),analyze its influencing factors, and provide a reference and basis for the prevention and intervention of debilitation in this population. Methods From February to December 2023,a total of 241 patients with BPH and over 60 years old who were hospitalized in Qilu Hospital of Shandong University were selected as the investigation objects.A self-designed general data information questionnaire was used to conduct a questionnaire survey by the tilburg frailty indicator(TFI),short-form mini-nutritional assessment(MNA-SF)and the Montreal cognitive assessment(MoCA).Univariate analysis,Pearson correlation analysis and binary logistic regression analysis were used to screen the influencing factors of frailty in elderly patients with BPH.Results Among 241 elderly patients with BPH,146 cases(60.6%)of them scored≥5 points on the total TFI scale, showing a frailty state.Univariate analysis showed that age, alcohol consumption, body mass index(BMI),personal monthly income, type of chronic disease, number of oral drugs,MNA-SF,MoCA were related to frailty in elderly patients with BPH(P<0.05).The total score of TFI in elderly patients with BPH was negatively correlated with NA-SF(r=-0.147,P<0.05),and it was negatively correlated with MOCA(r=-0.241,P<0.01).Logistic binary regression analysis showed that age, type of chronic disease,MNA-SF and MoCA were the main influencing factors of frailty in elderly patients with BPH(P<0.05).Conclusion The incidence of frailties in elderly patients with BPH is relatively high, and elderly BPH patients with advanced age, multiple types of chronic diseases, and low scores of MNA-SF and MOCA are more prone to frailties. The frailties of elderly patients with BPH should attract the attention of medical staff, and targeted intervention measures should be taken in time for this group. So as to achieve the purpose of preventing and delaying the development of frailty in eelderly patients with BPH.
