Application of Healthcare Failure Modes and Effects Analysis in Neonatal Hospital Infection Prevention and Control
Objective To evaluate the application effect of healthcare failure mode and effects analysis(HFMEA)in preventing and controlling neonatal hospital infections. Methods A total of 1 150 hospitalized infants from July 2020 to June 2021 in the neonatal center of Jieyang People's Hospital were selected as the control group, and 1 353 hospitalized infants from July 2021 to June 2022 were selected as the observation group. The control group received routine infection prevention and control management model, while the observation group applied the HFMEA model for infection prevention and control management. The incidence rate of neonatal nosocomial infection, the awareness rate of hospital infection knowledge, the compliance rate of hand hygiene and the correct rate were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of nosocomial infection in the observation group was 3.92%,lower than that in the control group(5.65%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The awareness rate of nosocomial infection knowledge, compliance rate of hand hygiene and correct rate of hand hygiene in observation group were 93.25%,90.25%and 88.98%,which were higher than 51.84%,80.64%and 79.94%in control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).The awareness rate of nosocomial infection knowledge, compliance rate of hand hygiene and correct rate of hand hygiene in the observation group were 91.15%,76.71%and 75.71%,which were higher than 65.31%,60.65%and 62.50%in the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of HFMEA for the scientific management of neonatal centers can effectively facilitate the prevention and control of neonatal hospital infections and improve the level of hospital infection management.
