Design and Application of Waterproof Device for Indwelling Needle for Newborn Bathing
Objective To explore the application effect of self-designed indwelling needle waterproof device in neonatal bathing.Methods A total of 252 newborns who received intravenous catheter treatment and were allowed to bathe due to their condition from January to December 2021 at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University were selected as the study subjects.A total of 124 children who received intravenous indwelling needle treatment with conventional protective sleeves from January to June 2021 were selected as the control group,and 128 children who received intravenous indwelling needle treatment with waterproof devices from July to December 2021 were selected as the observation group.The usage of indwelling needles and the incidence of complications such as phlebitis between two groups after bathing were compared.Results The retention time of the observation group's indwelling needle was(92.56±3.31)h,longer than(65.44±4.13)d of the control group,the unplanned extubation rate(2.34%)was lower than the control group(13.71%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of phlebitis in the observation group(4.68%)was lower than that in the control group(22.58%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The waterproof device for the indwelling needle is easy to operate and safe.When used during the bathing period of newborns,it can effectively prolong the use time of the indwelling needle,reduce unplanned unplugging,and has good safety,reducing the probability of venous inflammation.It can be widely used.
