The Effect of Low Glycemic Index Diet+Exercise Intervention on Adiponectin and Insulin Resistance Index in Obese Population
Objective To explore the correlation between adiponectin, resistin and insulin resistance in obese people. Methods A total of 100 obese people with body mass index(BMI)≥28 kg/m2 from January 2022 to June 2023 in Dongguan Nancheng Hospital were selected as the observation group, and 100 normal weight people with BMI of 18.5-24 kg/m2 during the same period were selected as the control group.Health examination was performed in both groups, and the differences in waist-to-hip ratio, percentage of body fat distribution, adiponectin, resistin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, insulin and insulin resistance index were compared between the two groups.Meanwhile,Pearson method was used to analyze the correlation between adiponectin and resistin and each index.Diet+exercise intervention was carried out in the observation group, and the changes of each index were compared before intervention and 4 months after intervention. Results The waist to hip ratio[(1.53±0.32)vs.(0.88±0.12)]and body fat distribution percentage[(36.83±7.63)%vs.(27.12±4.21)%]in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and adiponectin[(0.68±0.16)mg/L vs.(1.21±0.22)mg/L]was lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).The total cholesterol, triglycerides, insulin, and insulin resistance index of the observation group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).By Pearson analysis, adiponectin was negatively correlated with waist-to-hip ratio, percentage of body fat distribution, total cholesterol, triglyceride, insulin and insulin resistance index(P<0.05).While resistin was positively correlated with waist-to-hip ratio, percentage of body fat distribution, total cholesterol, triglyceride, insulin and insulin resistance index(P<0.05).Waist-to-hip ratio, percentage of body fat distribution, resistin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, insulin and insulin resistance index in the observation group after intervention were all lower than before intervention, and adiponectin was higher than before intervention, with significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with normal weight population, adiponectin decreased and resistin and insulin resistance increased in obese population, and adiponectin was negatively correlated with waist-to-hip ratio, percentage of body fat distribution, total cholesterol, triglyceride, insulin and insulin resistance index.Resistin was positively correlated with waist-to-hip ratio, percentage of body fat distribution, total cholesterol, triglyceride, insulin and insulin resistance index.Through standardized diet and exercise intervention, lipid levels and insulin resistance of obese people can be improved.
