Translation and Reliability and Validity Evaluation of the Periodontal Aesthetic Perception Scale
Objective To sinicize periodontal aesthetic perception scale(PAPS)and evaluate its reliability and validity.Methods In January and February 2022,PAPS was sinicized into Chinese version of the scale at Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University.Using this table,a survey was conducted from March 2022 to June 2023 on 165 study subjects(55 patients with gingival recession,55 patients with gingival hyperplasia,and 55 healthy gums)who visited the Department of Stomatology at Pidu District People's Hospital in Chengdu.The survey results were statistically analyzed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale.Results A total of 165 questionnaires were distributed and 155 were recovered,with a recovery rate of 93.9%.The Kronbach α coefficient of the scale is 0.793,and the total score of the within-group correlation coefficient is 0.894.Two common factors were extracted from the scale,the cumulative contribution rate reached 70.170%,and the factor load ranged from 0.740 to 0.861,and the common factor accounted for a large factor load value in each item,indicating that there was a large relationship between the scales.The total score of periodontal aesthetic perception scale and the difference in scores of two dimensions(Aesthetic efficacy and physiological efficacy)were statistically significant(P<0.05),indicating that the discriminant validity of the scale was good.Conclusion The performance test of PAPS Chinese version of the scale shows that the scale has great reliability and validity,and can be used for the evaluation of patients with periodontal aesthetic problems in China.
