The Application of Multidisciplinary Collaboration Model of Doctors-Nurses-Volunteers in End-Stage Cancer Patients and Caregivers
Objective To explore the application effect of the multidisciplinary collaboration model of doctors-nurses-volunteers in end-stage cancer patients and caregivers. Methods A total of 103 advanced cancer patients who underwent treatment at Fujian Cancer Hospital from April 2021 to September 2023 were selected as the research subjects.Using quasi experimental research method, cancer end-stage patients were divided into the experimental group(n=50)and in the control group(n=53).The experimental group adopted the care model of multidisciplinary collaboration of doctors-nurses-volunteers,the control group adopted conventional care mode. The level of psychological pain and caregiver satisfactionof two groups of patients every fourweeks were evaluated.Statistical analysis was conducted on the psychological pain levels, caregiver life satisfaction, number of hospitalizations, survival time, treatment decisions, and end-of-life decisions of the two groups after following up until the patients' death. Results The degree of psychological distress in the experimental group was(3.64±1.41)points,which was superior(4.25±1.53)pointsto the control group's,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The medical and end-of-life decisions of the experimental group were superior to those of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups of patients in terms of hospitalization frequency, survival period, and caregiver life satisfaction(P>0.05).Conclusion This multidisciplinary collaboration model of doctors-nurses-volunteer can alleviate the psychological pain of patients with end-stagecancer and assist patients and their families in making treatment decisions and end-of-life decisions. This model is simple, easy to implement, and has strong clinical operability, which can provide reference for the care model of end-stage cancer inpatients.More social support is still needed to improve the life satisfaction of caregivers.Medical staff, patients, and their families do not have a deepunderstanding of palliative care, and there is still a need to vigorously promote concept of palliative care,to improve the professional level of palliative care among clinical medical staff, enhance the cognitive level of patients and their families.
