Clinical Effect of Warm Moxibustion Combined With Massage in the Treatment of Lumbar Disc Herniation
Objective To analyze the effect of warm moxibustion combined with massage in the treatment of patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH). Methods A total of 70 LDH patients admitted to Heilongjiang Academy of Chinese Medicine Sciences from December 2022 to December 2023 were selected and divided into 2 groups with 35 cases each according to random number table method. The control group received massage treatment, while the observation group received warm moxibustion treatment on this basis. The clinical efficacy, changes in lower limb electromyography F-wave,oxidative stress response, lumbar range of motion, degree of lumbar functional impairment, lumbar function, and quality of life were compared between two groups. Results The total effective rate of observation group was 94.29%,which was higher than 77.14% of control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the latency of common peroneal nerve and tibial nerve in observation group was shorter than that in control group, and the frequency of common peroneal nerve and tibial nerve were higher than that in control group (P<0.05). The malonaldehyde (MDA) level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the superoxide dismutase (SOD) level was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The movement of anterior flexion, posterior extension, left flexion, right flexion, left rotation and right rotation in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The Japanese orthopaedic association scores (JOA) score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the Oswestry disability index (ODI) was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The scores of psychological function, physical function, social function and material life status of the observation group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Warm moxibustion combined with massage can improve the functional status of lower limb nerve roots in LDH patients, alleviate oxidative stress response, alleviate lumbar functional impairment, increase lumbar mobility, improve lumbar function, and contribute to the improvement of quality of life.
