Analysis of the Prevalence of Hand,Foot and Mouth Disease in Adults in a Hospital in Beijing in 2023
Objective Taking a hospital in Beijing as example to analyze the prevalence of hand,foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in adults.Methods A retrospective analysis of epidemiology and clinical characteristics was carried out in 29 adults patients with HFMD in a Hospital in Beijing from January to December 2023.Results The incidence peak of HFMD in adults in 2023 was from September to October.The peak age of onset was between>30 to 45 years.Male affected was more than female (20︰9).The occupational distribution consisted largely of business services and official staff.Most cases had no positive contact history.Fever was a premonitory symptom of HFMD in adults.The most common skin lesions were hand,foot and mucosa of oral.Most patients had sore throat and discomfort in hand and foot.Conclusion The epidemiology and clinical characteristics of HFMD in adults were essentially in agreement with HFMD.The difference was that most HFMD in adults had discomfort in hand and foot.With the high misdiagnosis rate,the keys to prevent the spread of HFMD are early discovery,early isolation and early treatment.
