Application of Quality Control Circle in Reducing the Underreporting Rate of Medical Safety Adverse Events
Objective To use the quality control circle as a tool to reduce the underreporting of medical safety adverse events and effectively reduce potential safety hazards. Methods In February 2023,a multi-departmental joint quality control circle group was established, using the quality control circle as a tool.Through the fishbone diagram,5-3-1 scoring, and the "three on-site" principle, five key factors were ultimately screened out,and targeted countermeasure groups were developed to improve the reporting process, optimize the reporting system, strengthen adverse event training and assessment, refine adverse event classification, and improved the regulatory system. Results After improvement,a recheck of the underreporting of adverse events in the hospital was conducted in September 2023.The underreporting rate decreased from 12.60% before improvement to 5.23% after improvement, with a target achievement rate of 112.00% and an improvement rate of 58.49%.Conclusion The multi-disciplinary quality control circle activities across hospital departments can effectively reduce the underreporting of medical safety adverse events, enhance the awareness of healthcare professionals in reporting, and further ensure patient safety.
