Research on the Differences of Resource Allocation and Service Utilization in Mental Health Institutions in Guizhou Province
Objective To investigate and analyze the differences in the resource allocation of mental health institutions in Guizhou province,and provide reference for mental health management departments to formulate and implement relevant mental health plans.Methods To investigate the resource and service utilization in mental health medical institutions in Guizhou province by issuing questionnaires on January to December 2022.Results A total of 120 medical institutions participated in the questionnaire survey,with a total of 10583 designated beds,29623 actual open beds,1320 doctors,4178 nurses,366064 outpatients,61166 inpatient admissions and 56201 patient discharges.There was a statistically significant difference in the types of institutions,supervisory units,institutional levels,actual number of open beds,number of nurses,and number of admissions and discharges among the 9 regional hospitals of the Party Committee Office (P<0.05).According to the nature of the institution,there were 272728 outpatient visits,19770 hospitalizations,and 20983 discharges in public hospitals;There were 93336 outpatient visits,41196 hospitalizations,and 35218 discharges in private hospitals.According to the classification of institutional levels,there were 23321 outpatient visits,13181 hospitalizations,and 12671 discharges in first tier hospitals;117127 outpatient visits were made in secondary hospitals,with 34019 hospitalizations and 30583 discharges;204672 outpatient visits were made in tertiary hospitals,with 8370 hospitalizations and 8338 discharges;There were 20944 outpatient visits,5596 hospitalizations,and 4609 discharges in hospitals that were not classified.There was a statistically significant difference in the number of admissions and discharges among 9 regional institutions (P<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in the number of outpatient visits among institutions of different natures (P<0.05).There was a statistically significant differencein the number of outpatient visits and hospitalizations among institutions of different levels (P<0.05).Conclusion The number of mental health institutions has greatly increased in recent years,mental health resources are relatively short and unevenly distributed,and the utilization of mental health services is uneven.
