Objective To analyze the impact of group occupational therapy on negative emotions in hospitalized patients with depression. Methods A total of 60 patients with depression admitted to the department of clinical psychology, the Third Hospital of Longyan from January to December 2023 were selected as the study objects. They were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method,30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional health education, and the observation group was treated with conventional health education combined with group occupational therapy. The improvement of clinical efficacy, depression degree and suicide risk were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 90.00%,which was higher than 66.67% of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment,Hamilton depression rating scale (HAMD),Montgomery-Asberg depression rating scale (MADRS) and the symptom check-list-90 (SCL-90) scores in the observation group were (6.23±0.31) points,(15.83±2.09) points and (14.44±2.02) points, which were lower than (8.55±0.35) points,(24.33±2.32)points and (25.39±3.11) points in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The suicide risk score of the observation group was (8.99±0.45) points, which was lower than (11.02±1.24) points of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Group occupational therapy can effectively improve the treatment effect, improve the degree of depression, and reduce the risk of suicide in hospitalized patients with depression.
