Effect of Baduanjin on Cervical Function and Pain in Patients With Neck Shoulder Syndrome
Objective To explore the application effect of Baduanjin exercise intervention in patients with neck shoulder syndrome. Methods A total of 100 patients with neck shoulder syndrome admitted to Liaocheng Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from October 2022 to October 2023 were included by random sampling method. According to the principle of balanced and comparable information between groups, the included patients were divided into control group and observation group, with 50 cases in each group. The control group was given routine intervention, and the observation group was given Baduanjin exercise intervention. The symptom and sign scores, cervical function, cervical range of motion, and neck and shoulder pain scores of the two groups were compared. Results After intervention, the symptom and sign scores of the observation group was (13.68±1.72) points, which was higher than (11.35±1.44) points of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After the intervention, the neck disability index (NDI) score of the observation group was (6.45±1.22) points, which was lower than (7.90±1.43) points of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The score of clinical assessment scale for cervical spondylosis (CASCS) was (86.67±5.47) points, which was higher than (81.83±4.26) points of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After the intervention, the motion in the four directions of flexion, extension, left rotation and right rotation in the observation group were (41.45±5.28) °,(43.15±5.03) °,(73.01±5.33) ° and (73.13±5.28) °,respectively, which were higher than (37.79±4.41) °,(40.02±4.36) °,(69.68±4.51) °,(69.75±4.62) ° in the control group, the difference were statistically significant (P<0.05). After intervention, the visual analogue scale (VAS) score of neck and shoulder pain in the observation group was (2.33±0.71) points, which was lower than (3.14±0.83) points in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Baduanjin exercise intervention can have a positive impact on symptoms and signs, cervical function, cervical range of motion, and improvement of neck and shoulder pain in patients with cervical shoulder syndrome.
