Occupational hazards during the implementation of a meltblown cloth mask production project in a company
Objective To identify and analyze the occupational hazards in the implementation of a meltblown cloth mask production project in a company, providing a scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of occupational diseases due to exposure to hazards in producing such masks. Methods The field occupational health survey and occupational hazards tes-ting method were used to comprehensively analyze and evaluate occupational hazards in the implementation of a meltblown cloth mask production project. Results The major occupational hazards presented in the implementation of the project were dusts(including polypropylene dust and wood dust)and noise. The time-weighted average concentration(CTWA)of the dusts ranged from 0.15-0.91 mg/m3,which was lower than the national occupational exposure limit. And the equivalent sound level of noise in eight hours[58.7-84.1 dB(A)]was also lower than the national occupational exposure limit. The equipment and commodities for occupational disease prevention and treatment met the standards for occupational health services. Conclusion The risk of occupational hazards associated with this project is at a fair level.Positions of slitters and winders in the production workshop are the critical control points for exposure to dust and noise, respectively.A series of measures should be taken to reduce the exposure level of these workers, and strengthen the prevention and treatment of oc-cupational diseases.
