Cancer incidence and mortality in Han and Chaoxian people in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in 2020:a comparative analysis
Objective To understand the prevalence of cancers among different ethnic groups in Yanbian Korean Autono-mous Prefecture(hereinafter referred to as Yanbian region),and to explore the influence of ethnic group and lifestyles on cancer generation and development,providing a scientific basis for cancer prevention and treatment.Methods A popula-tion-based cancer follow-up registry was conducted to screen new cancer cases from National Central Cancer Registry of China and new death cases related to cancer from China's Cause-of-death Reporting System in Yanbian region in 2020.SPSS 19 was used to analyze cancer incidence,mortality and years of life lost.Results In Yanbian region in 2020,the cancer incidence was 207.53/100 000,and the standardized incidence ratio was 133.29/100 000;the cancer mortality was 219.03/100 000,and the standardized mortality ratio was 136.20/100 000.Unlike the top-ranked cancer in terms of inci-dence or mortality nationwide,liver cancer incidence and mortality ranked first in Chaoxian people in Yanbian region.The potential years of life lost(PYLL)due to cancer was 53 340.52 years,accounting for 35.54%of all-cause mortality PYLL.Liver cancer caused 13.18 and 11.65 average years of life lost(AYLL)in Han and Chaoxian people in the region,respec-tively.And liver cancer ranked top in terms of AYLL among all cancers in both groups.In Yanbian region,cancer incidence and mortality are significantly different between Han and Chaoxian people.Conclusion The PYLL due to cancer for Han people is greater than that for Chaoxian people.And liver cancer causes the greatest years of life lost in both groups.
