Determination of the concentrations of heavy metals in Massa Medicata Fermentata by microwave digestion and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry
Objective To develop an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS)for the determination of concentrations of five heavy metals including copper(Cu),arsenic(As),cadmium(Cd),mercury(Hg)and lead(Pb)in Massa Medicata Fermentata(MMF).Methods ICP-MS was used to measure concentrations of Cu,As,Cd,Hg and Pb in samples of MMF after being treated with microwave digestion, using the mixed solution of 72Ge,115In,209Bi as an inter-nal standard. Results The five elements had good linear relationship(r≥ 0.999 6).The RSD of instrument precision ranged from 3.3%to 3.7%.The relative standard derivation of method repeatability ranged from 3.3%to 3.8%.The recov-ery of the method ranged from 88.67%to 98.40%.The detection limit of the method was between 0.001 1 and 0.022 0 mg/kg.Ten batches of samples were detected with different concentrations of Pb,As,Hg,Cd and Cu,but were within the per-missible limits. Conclusion This method is simple to operate, and has high accuracy and sensitivity.
