Research on Direct Economic Losses Due to Nosocomial Infection among Hem Dialysis Patients
Objective:To evaluate the direct economic losses of nosocomial infection among hem Dialysis patients.Methods:Using the prospective monitor method,910 hem dialysis patients in a provincial teaching hospital from January 1,2008 to December 31,2011 were investigated.117 patients had nosocomial infection and the direct costs of nosocomial infection were analyzed.Results:After nosocomial infection occurred,the median of average cost of the direct economic losses was 2 497.12 yuan,the median of average cost of the direct economic losses in lower respiratory tract infection was 4 798.22 yuan,and 1 883.66 yuan for the economic loss caused by urinary tract infection and vascular-related nosocomial infection median average direct economic losses was 4 126.51 yuan.Conclusion:Nosocomial infection in hem dialysis patients increased the medical expense and financial burden on patients and hospitals,and waste of medical resources.Effective measures should be taken to control nosocomial infection and avoid the health resources being wasted.
