Pathogenic composition and clinical characteristics of acute cholangitis caused by mixed bacteria
Objective This paper aims to analyze the pathogenic composition and clinical characteristics of acute cholangitis caused by mixed bacteria,so as to provide reference for developing rational clinical treatment scheme. Methods Culture results and related clinical data of pathogens from 229 patients with acute cholangitis in the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of Haining People's Hospital from January 2019 to September 2022 were collected for retrospective analysis. Results Among the 229 patients,160 patients had positive bile culture results, with the positive rate of 69.87%,among which 58 patients(25.33%)had mixed bacterial infection, and 9 of the 58 patients(3.93%)had 3 kinds of bacterial infection.Escherichia coli was the most common mixed bacterial infection, followed by other types of bacterial infection, among which Escherichia coli mixed with Enterococcus faecium was the most common(17.24%,10/58).Patients with positive biliary bacteria culture were associated with history of biliary surgery, hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancy, cirrhosis and chronic renal insufficiency(P<0.05),while patients with cirrhosis and chronic renal insufficiency were more prone to have mixed bacterial infection(P<0.05).Conclusion The composition of pathogenic bacteria and clinical characteristics of patients with acute cholangitis caused by mixed bacteria have certain characteristics.Clinicians should pay high attention to it and adopt effective prevention and treatment measures to improve the treatment effect and the prognosis of patients.
