Evaluation of serum interleukin-6 and interferon-γ combined with serum amyloid A in the diagnosis of influenza A in adults
Objective This paper aims to investigate the diagnostic value of serum interleukin-6(IL-6),interferon-γ(IFN-γ)and serum amyloid A(SAA)in adults with.influenza A.Methods A total of 60 adult influenza A patients(influ-enza A group),60 common influenza patients(common influenza group)and 60 healthy people(control group)were selected from the fever clinic of Hangzhou First People's Hospital in March 2023.Serum levels of IL-6,IFN-γ and SAA in each groups were detected. The reference value of serum IL-6 and IFN-γ combined with serum SAA in the diagnosis of adult influ-enza A(H1N1)was analyzed by receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC).Spearman correlation analysis was used to investigate the correlation between serum IL-6 and IFN-γ levels and serum SAA levels. Results The serum levels of IL-6,IFN-γ and SAA in influenza A group and common influenza A group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).ROC curve showed that the area under ROC curve(AUC)of serum IL-6 for the diagnosis of swine flu was 0.688(95%CI:0.612-0.763),and the optimal diagnostic critical value was 3.465 pg/ml.The AUC of serum IFN-γ was 0.663(95%CI:0.586-0.740),and the optimal diagnostic critical value was 0.95 IU/ml.The AUC of serum SAA was 0.796(95%CI:0.733-0.853),and the optimal diagnostic threshold was 15.950 mg/L.The AUC of serum IL-6 combined with SAA was 0.808(95%CI:0.747-0.869).The AUC for the combined diagnosis of serum IFN-γ and SAA was 0.766(95%CI:0.690-0.842).Serum IL-6 level was positively correlated with serum SAA level(r=0.388,P<0.01),and serum IFN-γ level was not significantly correlated with serum SAA level. Conclusion The levels of serum IL-6,IFN-γ and serum amyloid protein A in adult patients with influenza A are significantly increased. The combined detection of serum IL-6 and SAA is of certain reference value for the diagnosis of adult influenza A.
