Progress in researches on gut microbiota and metabolism
The gut microbiota depends on the host's genome, nutrition and life-style from birth and co-evolutes with the host. The intestinal flora regulates a variety of metabolic pathways of host, including the host's immune and nutrition, and greatly affects the host's biochemical metabolism and susceptibility to diseases. Together with multiple organs, it plays an important role in the metabolism, signalling and combating diseases. Understanding the specific role of the gut microbiota in their participation in various metabolic activities is very important to optimize treatment strategies, regulate the intestinal flora, combat diseases and improve health. The formation of the human intestinal flora, material and energy metabolism, metabolic diseases and research progress of the prevention and treatment of these diseases were summarized in this paper.
