Application of metagenomics in the diagnosis and treatment of oral candidiasis:research progress
In recent years,with the continuous upgrading of antibacterial drugs,the number of patients with oral candidi-asis(OC)has increased year by year.The intraoral microbial community of patients with OC also tends to be diverse and the interaction mechanism is complex.Traditional microbiological research mainly uses methods such as isolation and cul-ture,cloning,fluorescence in situ hybridization and molecular labeling.Due to technical limitations,there are still about 30％of oral microbiota cannot be cultivated or difficult to be cultivated by traditional methods.Metagenomics technology,however,makes up for this deficiency,allowing us to explore the diversity,structure and function of oral microbiota in pa-tients with oral Candida infection more deeply.This review aims to summarize the progress in research on metagenomics in the diagnosis and treatment of OC and to clarify its significance.
