A recent study found significant differences in facial and intestinal microbiota between healthy people and pa-tients with acne vulgaris(AV).The facial and intestinal microbiota of AV patients appeared disorder. The study also found that AV is not related to the excessive proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes, but to the types of strains and the balance among them.In addition, the disturbance of intestinal microbiota may indirectly affect the occurrence and development of AV.Therefore, more and more studies are focused on improving the balance between facial and intestinal microbiota of pa-tients with AV,so as to achieve the purpose of treating AV.This paper reviews the relationship between the imbalance of facial and intestinal microbiota and the incidence of AV,as well as probiotic therapy for improving the imbalance in AV patients.
