Characteristics of intestinal flora and their correlation with behavioral problems in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
Objective To analyze the correlation between characteristics of intestinal flora and behavioral problems in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD).Methods A total of 96 children with ADHD and 96 healthy children in the hospital between January 2022 and May 2023 were enrolled in the observation group and control group respectively. The metagenomic sequencing of stool samples was performed to analyze the characteristics of intestin-al flora. The behavioral problems of children were evaluated by using Conners Parent Symptom Questionnaire(PSQ).The correlation between distribution of intestinal flora and behavioral problems was analyzed. Results The α-diversity of in-testinal flora in observation group was higher than that in control group;the relative abundances of Enterobacter,Fla-vobacteriaceae and Citrobacter in observation group were higher, while those of Veillonella,Bacteroides,Bifidobacterium and Faecalibacterium prausnitzii were lower than those in control group respectively, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The scores of Conners PSQ in observation group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).Enterobacter,Flavobacteriaceae and Citrobacter were positively correlated with Conners PSQ scores(P<0.05),while Veillonella,Bacteroides,Bifidobacterium and Faecalibacterium prausnitzii were negatively correlated with them(P<0.05).Conclusion The intestinal flora in ADHD children are different from those in healthy children.Different in-testinal flora are correlated with behavioral problems.
