The relationship between gut microbiota and osteoporosis and its prevention and treatment strategies
Gut microbiota refers to the microbial community that lives in the human digestive tract and coexists with the human body.At present,it is considered as a"large organ"that has a direct impact on the gastrointestinal tract, immune and endocrine systems.Gut microbiota directly or indirectly participates in the regulation of various physiological and patholo-gical processes of the human body.In recent years,a growing number of clinical and experimental evidences have shown that there is a close relationship between gut microbiota and osteoporosis, and probiotics have been proved to have a posit-ive impact on maintaining bone health through the gastrointestinal tract. In this paper,we summarized various domestic and foreign studies on this topic in recent years, the molecular mechanism of the regulatory effect of gut microbiota on osteo-porosis and the clinical practice of using gut microbiota to improve bone health. We believe that the main mechanisms re-cognized at present are:endocrine regulation, immune regulation(Th17/Treg cell balance),and gene regulation(miRNAs).At the same time,we also find that probiotics and prebiotics as a way to treat osteoporosis is expected to become a new idea for future scientific and clinical research.
