Inhibitory effect of postbiotic Bifidobacterium BB-12 on oral Streptococci
Objective To explore the inhibitory effect of postbiotic Bifidobacterium BB-12 on oral Streptococci, and provide new ideas for the prevention and treatment of oral diseases. Methods The postbiotic Bifidobacterium BB-12 was co-cultured with oral Streptococci, and divided into four groups according to the culture modes:Control group(Strepto-cocci positive control),group A(Streptococci+Bifidobacterium),group B(Streptococci+inactivated Bifidobacterium)and group C(Streptococci+fermented Bifidobacterium). The organisms in each group were collected 24 hours after cultivation, and total RNA of the organisms were extracted using Trizol method, and fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect the expressions of glucosyltransferase gtfB and gtfC genes, fructosyltransferase ftf gene,glucan-binding protein gbpB and gbpC genes, and histidine kinase ciaH and comD genes. Results Compared with the Control group, the expressions of or-al Streptococci gtfB,gtfC,ftf, gbpB,gbpC,ciaH,and comD genes significantly reduced in the three observation groups(all P<0.05);there were no significant differences among the three observation groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The postbiot-ic Bifidobacterium BB-12 may inhibit oral Streptococci by down-regulating the expression of genes related to biofilm formation in Streptococci, thus preventing its biofilm formation on oral mucosa and preventing the occurrence of oral dis-eases.
